Dive HMAS Brisbane Report 4th September - 11th September 2009

Dive Report
Don't we just love it when the wind holds off, the water temperature starts to climb and the visibility gets up to that 15 metre mark and stays there. Well that's how it is at the moment and we're lapping it up on the ex HMAS Brisbane.
Latest Coast Weather Forecast

Viz on the Inner Gneerings is sometimes down a little to 10-12 metres but on the HMAS BRISBANE and the Outer Gneerings it is holding at a good 15 metres.
Marine life is still quite prolific with schools of various types of fishlife and soft and hard corals still staking their claim on the BRISBANE plus there has been an 'invasion' of nudibranchs on the wreck with just so many different varieties to be found on that ship, it is amazing.

In spite of threats by authorities to better police the wreck in an attempt to stop the illegal fishing, we find numerous pieces of fishing line and tackle wrapped around the ship. We see kingfish swimming around with gang hooks hanging from their mouth and the odd dead fish lying on the deck with a mouthful of fish hooks.
2 fines in 4 years is a joke. No wonder that this minority of fisherman just ignore the warnings and keep going back and fish illegally.

This weekend is shaping up well with light winds predicted which means nothing but a bit of surface chop in the sea department. So this simply means, good diving conditions this weekend. Enjoy.
