About Us - Youth, energy and experience

Paul White and Greg Riddell bring a mix of youth, energy and experience to Sunreef Dive which benefits all clients, whether a novice diver or old hand, buying equipment or needing it serviced or looking for a memorable dive holiday.

Co-owner of Sunreef Dive Paul White became a dive instructor in 2000, eight years after he began his scuba diving career and was lured fromScuba Diving Australia challenges above the water to the pleasures beneath.

Formerly a member of Maroochydore & Mooloolaba surf clubs he represented Queensland in the state surf boat team. He has since traded muscle power for outboard power and as a qualified coxswain was providing dive vessel services even before he joined the Sunreef team in 2003

Soon after this, Paul bought into the business, obtaining his Master Scuba Diver trainer rating in readiness for the demands of wreck, deep and Nitrox (enriched air) diver courses resulting from the scuttling of the ex-HMAS Brisbane as an artificial reef off the Sunshine Coast.

Greg Riddell is a hands-on business operator who has completed more than 5000 dives and certified more than 2000 divers since obtaining his PADI Dive Instructor Certificate in 1978. He has dived extensively around the world including Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, Noumea, Fiji, Philippines and Australia’s own Great Barrier Reef. Most recently, along with noted Sunshine Coast based underwater photographer Gary Cobb, Greg was recognised for a new world record in diving by the Guinness Book of Records.

He is a First Aid and Oxygen Equipment Resuscitation Instructor/Trainer with the Royal Lifesaving Society. He has remained involved with that organisation providing various levels of training since 1974.

Greg offers sound technical and practical information for beginners and advanced divers. He is highly regarded as the most experienced equipment service technician on the Sunshine Coast, having acquired a wealth of knowledge on all brands of scuba equipment over more than 20 years.

Greg has selected and groomed a knowledgeable, vibrant and fun-loving team of instructors who are reliable and safety conscious. Sunreef sets high standards in the quality of service, instruction and qualifications it requires of its staff. All instructors and dive masters boast many years of experience in Australian and international dive locations.

Our staff pride themselves on their tuition skills and in delivering information in a clear, efficient and courteous manner, offering encouragement and extra time if needed, to help everyone achieve their individual goals.

Scuba Diving Training CoursesCommitment to Safety
Sunreef complies with P.A.D.I and Queensland Government safety regulations. In addition, all instructors are current holders of First Aid Certificates and oxygen providers.
All diving courses are conducted using a mix of classroom, video, pool tuition and open water training dives. While provision is made for participants who progress quickly, there is no hurrying of others who may need to take longer to efficiently manage equipment and develop skills.

Only when the instructor is certain that each participant has confidently mastered all basic equipment handling techniques will they be allowed to progress further.

Personal Attention
Most participants learn easily, but from time to time, we have found that some people need a little extra assistance to become confident in the water and managing their equipment.

Our instructors are trained to recognise these signs and will work closely with an individual to ensure that skills are mastered and any anxiety is overcome.

Commitment to Fun
New friendships and fun is what scuba diving is all about. Participants thoroughly enjoy learning this exhilarating sport. It seems that every dive introduces divers to new marvels so typical of our underwater environment.
