This basic program, with a nominal duration of 6 hours, is available
to any person who is 12 years or older and covers some basic procedures
that should enable you to assist an injured or ill person until medical
aid is accessed.
Topics include: assessment and
safety, external bleeding, management of the unconscious victim,
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), shock, cross infection, basic
orientation to first aid in the workplace, first aid kits and moving of
injured persons. You will participate in both theory and practical
sessions, during which your skills will be assessed.
A fter the competent completion of all of the required skills, you will
receive a Statement of Attainment from DAN when the registration
procedures have been completed. The program is accredited by State and
National government recognition authorities under National Training
Recognition Scheme.
