Course Overview
The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course is a nationally recognised qualification that equips you with the skills and knowledge to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
This course is ideal for workplace first aid compliance, and also fulfils requirements for PADI Rescue Diver certification or higher. Previously known as HLTAID003 Provide First Aid, Apply First Aid, Senior First Aid, or Level 2 Workplace First Aid.
Units Delivered
The following units will be included in your certificate:
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
- HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Course Delivery
This course is delivered face-to-face at our training facility.
Location: Sunreef, Shop 11-12, The Wharf Mooloolaba, 123 Parkyn Parade, Mooloolaba QLD 4557
Duration: Face-to-face contact time of at least 8 hours
Course Fees
Price: $115 per person
Entry Requirements
- Unique Student Identifier (USI): All students undertaking nationally recognised training must have a USI. Create yours at usi.gov.au
- Language, Literacy and Numeracy: It is recommended that participants have literacy and numeracy competencies equivalent to Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2
- Physical Requirements: Participants must have the physical capacity to perform practical demonstrations, including performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and rescue breathing techniques on manikins. There are no exemptions to this requirement.
Assessment Requirements
Assessment includes practical demonstrations and written theory assessment. Assessments conducted during the face-to-face training session include:
- Perform CPR on an adult manikin (including the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
- Perform CPR on an infant manikin
- Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
- Manage a casualty with asthma
- Manage a choking casualty
- Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock
- Manage a casualty with fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains
- Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/funnel-web spider bite)
- Complete a first aid incident report form
- Theory assessment: Written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short-answer questions
Certificate Renewal Requirements
In line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and Safe Work Australia’s First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice, the recommended renewal periods are:
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid: 3 years
- HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support: 3 years
- HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation: 12 months

What You Will Learn
This hands-on course covers essential first aid skills in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines:
- DRSABCD emergency action plan
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) operation
- Airway management and rescue breathing techniques
- Bleeding control, wound management, and shock prevention
- Asthma and anaphylaxis management
- Fracture, dislocation, sprain, and strain management
- Burns, poisoning, and envenomation (bites and stings)
- Hypothermia and hyperthermia recognition and treatment
- Infection control procedures and barrier device use

Course Confirmation: We will send an email and text message the day before your course around 3:30 pm to confirm the course status and start time.
Parking: Allow 15-20 minutes for parking. We recommend the Sea Life car park at The Wharf Mooloolaba, 123 Parkyn Parade.

- Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes
- Photo identification
- Your USI number
- Lunch and snacks (cafes available at The Wharf Mooloolaba)

Parking: Please keep in mind especially if you are on an 11:30 am or later trip that parking can sometimes get very busy. Please give yourself at least 15-20 minutes for parking. We recommend that you park your vehicle in the Sea Life (Underwater World) car park at The Wharf Mooloolaba, 123 Parkyn Parade. You can find a parking map of The Wharf Mooloolaba here.
What to bring: Wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes, and bring along a notepad. Please organize your lunches or snacks for the day, there are plenty of options here at The Wharf Mooloolaba for places to eat.
